Who coaches the coach?  A question I’ve asked often and finally figured out the answer.   It’s the Holy Spirit !   Of course it is!  Why was that ever a question?

For years I have coached individuals and management teams to improve their effectiveness in their businesses and in their personal lives; but every time I struggled with the same issues myself, I asked that question.

Who keeps the coach on track?  Who coaches the coach?

When I began writing Christian devotional books I realized that the Holy Spirit was inspiring me and walking me through the same experiences as the central figures in my books.  If I but stop to listen, the coaching will be there.  If I am quiet, I can hear.

The idea for the devotional series “A Walk In Their Footsteps” came from a series of sessions I spent with a Spiritual Director. She used a technique, I believe attributed to St. Ignatius, of placing yourself within Biblical situations as one of the figures participating in the event depicted. Seeing the lessons of Jesus from the “inside out” gives a whole new perspective on Christ’s teachings.

The first in the series, “Through A Mother’s Eyes” sees Jesus’ public life and his Passion and death through the eyes of his Mother.

The second in the series, “A Lady In Waiting” is Mary’s experience from the Angel’s visit through Jesus’ birth and presentation in the temple.

The third in the series “When Friends Desert You” expresses the feelings and responses of those who have been betrayed by friends as well as the view of the betrayers. We can all identify with that situation.

And that’s the point of all these reflections. Put yourself in the story and experience the emotions and reactions personally.
